Fr.
Michael Johnstone M.A. (Oxon)
Fr. Michael was born and educated in South
Africa and came to England in 1951 where he read History
at St Johns College, Oxford University, and then
completed a post graduate year in Theology.After
further study at Chichester Theological College, he was
ordained to the Anglican Ministry in 1958 and worked as a
Curate for 4 years in Hoxton, East London.
He was
received into the Catholic Church in 1962, and tried his
vocation as a Benedictine Monk. Thereafter, Fr. Michael
then taught for a period of 23 years, first at Farleigh
House Preparatory School, Hampshire, where he later
became Headmaster; and subsequently at Colet Court, the
Preparatory School for St Paul's School, London.
In
addition, for 16 years he was a Cub and Scout Master and
also became an active supporter of the
International Catholic Charity "Aid to the Church in
Need" www.kirche-in-not.org
In 1992 he offered himself for ordination
to the Bishop of East Anglia. After further study at the
Missionary Institute, Mill Hill, London, and working as a
Pastoral Assistant in St. George's Parish, Norwich,
he was ordained in 1997 and appointed Assistant Priest at
St Peter and All Souls, Peterborough. In August 2002
he became priest in charge at Our Lady of Pity, Swaffham.
Outside
Parish work, Fr. Michael's main interest is another
Catholic Charity "Let the Children Live", www.letthechildrenlive.org whose aim is to
rescue Street Children in Colombia, South America. He has
helped the plight of those children during his numerous
visits to that country, and by writing articles and
giving talks on the work of the Charity.
